Seascapes, landscapes, Calmscapes and escapes: semi-realistic scenery that has a calming and hypnotic effect on the viewer. I create elements of mystery with ambiguous passages of texture and light.
Whilst I only ever create an original painting once, if you see something you like that is already sold, do contact me to discuss commissioning an original piece with a similar style and theme.
I’ve been working on a new body of work this summer (2019) which culminated in this semi-abstract seascape in acrylic on canvas with mixed media and found objects incorporated into the surface of the painting. Items such as nylon mesh bags and string, reminding us of how our food-packaging is impacting the health of the oceans on a daily basis. Coffee grounds, great for a natural fertiliser, as also creating texture in this coastal scene.
The entire surface of the painting has been sealed with acrylic medium.
Ready to hang without a frame for a contemporary look, with canvas sides painted ocean blue.

The originals in this gallery collection have been inspired by my experiences diving Jamaica's coral reefs.
This statement piece (125 cm sq) is inspired by a beautiful crevice along the North Coast of Jamaica where these Black Bar Soldierfish play. The painting was created with texture and found plastics, to raise money for the White River Fish Sanctuary, in collaboration with the Jamaica Inn Foundation. Read more about it in Artists’ & Illustrators Magazine, February 2023 edition, or go here for the full story.

Some of my favourite fish species seen regularly on the shallow reefs in the Caribbean, painted in Daniel Smith paints, featuring semi-precious stones in their pigments. These give a subtle shimmer to the painting surface. Read my article published in Paint Magazine, July 2018, entitled ‘In Deep’ here.

RSPB Rainham Marshes has inspired a body of work where I have tried to capture the otherworldly feeling of being out in the marshes with the water, sky and birds - timeless and disconnected.

Portraits of interesting faces and venerable characters to be found in every little corner of the Caribbean, and the UK. For information on commissioning a portrait, click here.
I painted this contemporary portrait of Sir David Attenborough using only blue and green paint, as a challenge, to represent the precious blue-green world that he has spent a lifetime championing.
I’m making prints available (with his kind permission) to benefit a local wildlife charity here in Jamaica, that houses, feeds and cares for rescued parrots from the illegal pet trade. All wild parrots in Jamaica are protected species and when they are taken from the nests too young, they cannot feed themselves in the wild. Wendy Lee, environmental scientist and photographer, has dedicated a lifetime to this task at her Seven Oaks Sanctuary for Wildlife in Runaway Bay, Jamaica.
Open Edition and Limited Edition prints are available on this website in the Shop and 50% of all proceeds will go to the Sanctuary.

Animals can be such characters! Birds in acrylics allow for suggestion of movement and the shimmer of feathers, especially in groups. Playing with pattern and colour in blocky strokes gives a fun look.

Vanish, the Cat is a children’s book by author, Martin Orrell, that I’ve been illustrating this year. It will delight children, (pre-readers, young readers), grand-parents and cat-lovers of all ages.
Please enjoy the intro video and some of the images from the book in this gallery.

I’ve illustrated a funny book by Martin Orrell, called ‘Vanish, the Cat’.
Here’s a cute little video that explains how our Kickstarter Campaign for our book ‘Vanish the Cat’ came about.
(Thanks to JOSM Productions for the video.)
Our Kickstarter Campaign was a success and we raised the money to get the book printed. We chose Ashley House Printing Company, in Exeter, with sustainable processes and vegan inks.
Huge thanks to all those who supported us through KS and we hope you are now all enjoying your books.
If you’d like to buy one of our remaining First Editions of ‘Vanish, the Cat’, follow this LINK TO MY SHOP and choose one book or a bundle of three, or the prints. At the moment we ar only set up to ship to the UK. If you would like books shipped else where, please drop me an email here to request a shipping quote.
Feedback from early supporters who have received the physical book:

- ‘Mine has arrived!! It’s beautiful!! Such a wonderful book and a great achievement - congratulations!’

Here’s a double page spread image from the book, Vanish, the Cat, showing the frogs ‘piping out their toad tune’, in a moody scene when Vanish has gone missing, (as is his wont).
This image is available as a Limited Edition Print, series of 25. Available here.
Here’s another of my favourite scenes - a double page spread painting of Vanish’s wild habitat. No wonder Vanish likes to disappear, when there is so much to explore!
This image is available as a limited edition, series of only 25. Available here.
One of my favourite paintings is the bed in the stars, which invites us to go on a magical dreamy interlude before the action resumes the next day. It was lots of fun to paint.
You can buy a print of this here.
